Poet Heather Macpherson In Milford For Shawna Foundation Tour

The upcoming reading is part of a series of poetry events between the Milford and Uxbridge libraries supported by the Shawna Foundation.

MILFORD, MA —Poet Heather J. Macpherson will be the featured artist in November at the Milford and Uxbridge libraries, part of a series of poetry events in 2023 sponsored by the Shawna Foundation, a local nonprofit honoring Shawna Shea, an Uxbridge High School student who died in a car crash in 1999.

The Shawna Foundation presents The Library Poetry Tour continues in November with poet Heather Macpherson, at the Milford Town Library and the Uxbridge Free Library.

Heather J. Macpherson writes poems and prose. Her work has appeared in Soundings East, The Carolina Quarterly, Variant Lit, Bennington Review, 580 Split, Blueline, and other fine places. She and co-editor Francesca Borrione have an edited collection of academic essays called Voicing the Less Dead forthcoming from Lexington Books in 2024. Heather teaches writing at Clark University.

The reading is hosted by Tony Brown, the winner of the 2022 Stanley Kunitz Medal, endowed by the late U.S. Poet Laureate and Worcester native and awarded annually to a poet for lifetime achievement and service to the Central Massachusetts poetry community.

The readings will be held on November 8th, 7 p.m. at the Milford Town Library and November 16th, 7 p.m. at the Uxbridge Free Library. The program is financed in part by the Milford Cultural Council, the Uxbridge Cultural Council and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
