Police Log: Man Charged in Jewelry Theft, Crash at Water and Prospect

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, April 10

5:24 p.m.: A caller told police eight youths, about ages of 6 to 12, run toward vehicles on Colonial Road as they drive by. This happens every day about 5 to 6 p.m. The vehicles are speeding.

6:53 p.m.: Milford detectives assisted Hopedale with an arrest. Michael Richard Murray, 28, of 40 Purchase St., Milford, is charged with larceny under $250 by false pretense, larceny over $250, a warrant and receiving stolen property over $250. According to police, Murray stole jewelry from his girlfriend's parents' house, where he was living at the time. The items were valued at more than $3,000.

7:33 p.m.: Police and EMTs responded to Prospect at Water streets, where two vehicles collided. Both vehicles, a Toyota Prius and a Chevrolet Cobalt, were towed. Two people were taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

11:53 p.m.: A caller reported her motion detector spot light activated on the side of her residence, and she noticed a window that she had screwed shut was open. She asked police to check the area. Officers checked and found everything was OK.

Thursday, April 11

2:35 a.m.: A caller near Purchase Street Market reported a man was assaulting a woman in the parking lot. The only description provided was that they left in a dark sedan.

3:03 a.m.: A caller reported a loud beeping noise coming from Congress Street. An officer determined it was a smoke alarm in a Dumpster.

10:06 a.m.: A caller complained about speeding cars at the corner of East Main and Hayward streets. He said the problem is out of control, with near misses happening daily. He requested extra patrols.

2:05 p.m.: A caller reported a jack had not been returned and he believed it was stolen. Police are seeking a summons to charge Keith V. Bishop, 22, of 69 Richfield RD., Arlington, with larceny under $250.

2:26 p.m.: An owner of the Turtle Tavern reported someone stole her wallet out of her purse.
