Police Log: Man in Woods Near Milford Catholic, Boiler Back-Fire

Monday, March 25
4:41 p.m.: A woman walked into police headquarters and asked to speak to an officer about getting an emergency restraining order.
5:45 p.m.: Following a motor vehicle stop in the rear of Kohl's Department Store, an officer requested a tow truck. Police are seeking a summons to charge Manuel P. Japon, 27, of 87 N. Essex St., Orange, NJ, with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

6:21 p.m.: Following a motor vehicle stop on Cemetery Street, at Depot Street, police arrested Josue De Oliveira Rios, 24, of 19 Church St., Apt. 3, Milford, on charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and possession of a Class B drug.
10:22 p.m.: A caller reported an intoxicated male in a white Caravan at Stock's Barber Shop, where the person hit an object on his way into the parking lot. Police found the vehicle but no one was around.

10:55 p.m.: A caller on Bandy Lane reported a house filled with grey smoke, and it was coming from the basement. Firefighters found it was a boiler backfire, and vented the house.
Tuesday, March 26
7:57 a.m.: A woman complained that vehicles were speeding on Fruit Street when children are waiting for the bus. An officer was to head back for traffic enforcement.
10:27 a.m.: EMTs responded to Luby Avenue, where a 3-year-old girl had fallen and hit her head. The child was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
10:47 a.m.: An office manager at Sherwood Park apartments asked to speak to an officer about an unwanted person living in the complex.
11:18 a.m.: Seven officers and detectives responded to where a caller had reported a man in the woods behind the school. A detective spoke to a possible witness on Jason Circle. Other officers went to Hayward Street. A sergeant reported the man in question was last seen walking up Jenn Paul Way. The surrounding area was checked but the man could not be located.
12:34 p.m.: Officers responded to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, where someone reported suspicious activity involving three people.
