Redevelopment Eyed for Main Street
One of the most forlorn looking stretches of Main Street could be redeveloped into new retail stores.
Several contiguous properties on Milford's Main Street are held by a single corporate owner, who is expected to reveal preliminary redevelopment plans on Tuesday.
The properties include four apartment houses and two former businesses fronting Main Street, and stretch from the entrance of the Milford Upper Charles Trail on Main Street, next to Dunkin Donuts, to the community parking lot across from Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.Â
All are zoned for commercial uses: retail, said Larry Dunkin, the Milford town planner.

At the request of the owner, the Planning Board on Tuesday has scheduled a discussion of possible redevelopment scenarios for the properties, which include 9, 15.5 Â and 17 Main St., as well as 19, 21, 23, 25 and 27 Main Street.
No application has been filed by the corporations that hold the properties, Dunkin said. This would be the first time the property owner has approached the town board to discuss plans for redevelopment.

Three properties are held by Canyons LLC and one by Houton LLC, both of Milford. The companies have the same agent, David Pyne, and corporate location on record with the Massachusetts Secretary of State's office, according to its online database.
According to Milford property records, the four parcels were purchased in April and August 2010.
One of the buildings, the one adjacent to the town parking lot, used to house the former "Speed Shop."
The turn-of-the-century apartment houses are occupied by tenants. But neither of the commercial buildings has been occupied for several years, Dunkin said. They have deteriorated over time.
"Everybody would like to see it disappear," he said.
