Temple Beth Shalom Member Wins Lincoln Douglas Debate Competition

In last weekend’s debate at St. Anselm's College in Manchester, NH, Temple Beth Shalom's own Zoe Staum, from Lafayette College, daughter of Temple Beth Shalom members Stephen Staum and Carol Urwitz, bested two Ivy leaguers from Penn in the semi and final rounds to win the Lincoln Douglas Debate competition.

Staum is a graduate of Needham High School. 

The trophy is for first place Lincoln Douglas Debate, one plaque is for best speaker and the other plaque is an annual Jack Lynch Award for the debater who best exemplifies the spirit of debate.
