Man Drunkenly Drives Car With Two Tires, Clips House

Needham Police reported rim markings on their roads for roughly two miles.

A Norwood man was arrested early this morning after he police say he drunkenly drove his car into a fence and clipped the side of a house.

According to reports, Justin R. Kenney, 24, of 64 George St., drove a Lincoln Continental for more than two miles through Needham and Newton without the front and rear passenger tires before crashing at the Mechanic Street home in Newton on Wednesday morning.

Police said they responded to the residence around 1:41 a.m. to find the red Continental idling with the doors locked.

The car not only hit the fence and house but also caused minor damage to cars parked in the adjacent driveway, reports said.

After hearing the scraping of the car's rims, one witness told police he looked out the window to see the Continental drive over a traffic island and into the fence.

Kenney was found a short while later about a quarter-mile away fromt he crash scene, police said.

During the investigation, reports said Needham police found rim markings on their roads for approximately two miles.

According to Needham Police Lt. Chris Baker, there was no other visible damage found in Needham as a result of Kenney's driving. Baker said it appeared Kenney had tried to change at least one of the two tires while in town.

Needham officers found one tire near 197 First Ave., Baker said.  

Kenney was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving to endanger and leaving the scene of property damage. At his booking in Newton, he was also issued a city ordinance violation for possession of marijuana under one ounce.
