Needham Coronavirus: Police Now Taking Reports By Phone

Needham police said they will still respond to 911 calls as usual, but residents are asked to make non-emergency reports by phone.

NEEDHAM, MA — Police in Needham are working protect public safety and maintain efficiency during the ongoing outbreak of the new coronavirus by asking residents to make non-emergency reports by phone instead of in-person at the police station.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, the department announced it is modifying its response to non-emergency calls and accepting reports of past crimes by phone at 781-455-7570. Residents are asked not to go to the police department lobby unless it is necessary.

The department said firearm licensing renewals are being processed by mail on a temporary basis. For questions about licensing, residents can contact police at 781-455-7570 ext. 241.

The department is not providing fingerprinting services for any other reason at this time.
