Needham PD Speak Out On George Floyd Killing

NEEDHAM, MA — Needham Police Department issued a statement on Wednesday in response to the death of George Floyd. Floyd was the Minneapolis man whose death was caught on video, as a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck. The viral video has sparked protests and a call for change and an end to police brutality throughout the country.

Needham police issued a statement condemning the "actions and inaction," of the Minneapolis police officers involved in George Floyd's death. The department stressed that while the incident happened in Minneapolis, conversations about it need to continue in Needham.

"While it may be uncomfortable to talk about racism, it is only by speaking about it that we can begin to overcome it," the statement reads.
