NEEDHAM, MA — Needham's Debra Schmill was named a Commonwealth 2020 Heroine. Schmill is the founder and past President of the Needham Community Farm. She was recommended for the award by State Rep. Denise Garlick.

The annual Commonwealth Heroines celebration recognizes women from across the state who "perform unheralded acts daily that make our homes, neighborhoods, cities and towns better places to live." State legislators are responsible for recommending women within their districts for the honor.

Debra has been an integral member of the coalition to educate legislators and members of her community of how food impacts public health and the climate issue globally.
