Police Log: Street Signs Stolen Near Lasell College

Police found 15 street signs hidden in bushes on Woodland Road.

Charges have been taken out against a 22-year old from Belchertown in connection with stolen street signs found near Woodland Road.

According to police reports, an officer driving down Woodland Road yesterday spotted a man carrying five street signs. After stopping the cruiser, reports said the officer heard the sound of the signs dropping on the ground as the man went behind some bushes near Lasell College. 

When the officer approached the man, he appeared to intoxicated and did not acknowledge that he knew where the signs were from, reports said.

According to police, the stolen signs found behind the bushes were two one way signs in addition to signs for Prince Street, Arapahoe Road and Bullough Park.

As the officer was leaving the area, reports said the officer found 10 more street signs behind another bush on Woodland Road. The signs were for Arapahoe Road, Bristol Road, Wauwinet Road, Risley Road, Wimbledon Circle, Mason Road, Hazelton Road, Kenwood Avenue, Commonwealth Park and Commonwealth Park West.

Police said a hearing will be requested in  for one count of knowingly receiving stolen property over $250 and three counts of knowingly receiving stolen property under $250.
