5 Parks and Rec Programs To Try This Summer

This week's patch picks is all about summer programs.

School is not out yet but it's not too soon to start making summer plans - especially when some need pre-registration.

This week's Patch Picks for Parks and Rec programs to try:

1. Weekly Rock Climbing at Brooksby Farm -- May 24, 31 at . Cost is $12, ages 10 and up. Cost includes instruction and gear.

2. CSI Peabody -- Peabody residents ages 11 to 15, August 15 to 19, $50. Teens will have the opportunity for hands-on work in many of the areas in which science and technology are used in police investigations to gather evidence at “crime scenes.” They’ll work hand in hand with the Peabody Police Department, the District Attorney’s Office, and the Peabody Recreation Department.

3. Surfs Up - A three‐week program starting June 6, from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. to Hampton Beach to learn how to surf. $90 fee includes boards, wetsuit rental and instruction. 

4. Firefighters in Training -- Ages 11 to 15 are invited to learn the basics of fire and fire prevention and CPR from August 8 to 12 from 8 a.m. to noon. Cost is $50

5. Act -- Drama workshop from July 25 to 29, ages 5 to 15. Cost is $85 for Peabody residents, $95 for non-Peabody residents. Choice of improv or dramatic acting.
