Quincy Man Charged In Drunken 4th Of July Hit And Run

Paul Mignosa, 39, was charged with hitting a bicyclist and driving away from the scene.

QUINCY, MA — The 4th of July for one Quincy man ended with an arrest and allegations that he struck a bicyclist while drunk.

Paul Mignosa, 39, was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol causing serious bodily injury and leaving the scene of a crash with personal injury, according to the Quincy Police Department.

Police say they responded to a serious crash involving a bicycle at the intersection of Whitwell and Deldorf streets at about 8:20 p.m. Mignosa allegedly fled the scene following the crash and the bicyclist, a 61-year old male, suffered serious head and leg injuries.

The biker was taken to a hospital in Boston.

Mognosa and his vehicle were located a short distance away from the crash scene, police said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Quincy Police.
