QUINCY, MA — Police in Quincy are investigating two dozen car break-ins that occurred across North Quincy in a 48-hour period.
Six cars were broken into near the Adams Inn Hotel on Hancock Street late Thursday night and early Friday morning and 18 more were reported Friday, including 11 in the lower level parking garage of the Mellen Bray House on Weston Avenue.
Another seven occurred at Quincy Commons near Canton and French streets. Police believed those break-ins happened Saturday night because one victim told police that he was only away from his car for a half-hour when he called officers at 7:35 p.m.

"Please make sure to lock your doors and remove all valuables from your vehicle. We understand no one wants to have their window smashed, but it is far less common for a thief to smash windows to gain access. Typically they try the handle and move on when it is locked," Quincy Police said in a statement.
Anyone with information on the break-ins should call the Quincy Police Department at 617-479-1212.
