The South Shore YMCA announced the retirement of three esteemed executive board members, Doug Briggs, Steve Briggs, and Alex Clark, who have collectively dedicated 125 years of service to the organization. Their retirement was officially announced by CEO Paul Gorman at the 2024 Board Meeting and Holiday Social held on December 10 at the Hale Family YMCA in Quincy.

Doug Briggs has served on the board for 35 years, bringing his expertise as the CEO of Quincy Mutual Group and a CPA to ensure the financial stability and transparency of the Y’s finances. Doug's contributions have been instrumental in the transformational changes within the organization, including the introduction of a balance sheet and the upgrade of the Y’s computer systems.

Steve Briggs, with over 40 years on the board, has been a passionate advocate for the South Shore YMCA’s Camp Burgess & Hayward overnight camps, where he was once a camper. Steve has championed numerous initiatives, including fundraising for new dining halls, health centers, and cabins at the camp. His dedication to the Y’s mission and his involvement in the Rodman Ride fundraising event have made a significant impact on the community.
