Northshore Mall To Get 2 New Restaurants, Exterior Renovations

After P.F. Chang's announced it would close its doors at the Northshore Mall, Simon – a global leader in retail real estate – announced its plans to renovate the mall's exterior landscape and add two new restaurants to its food options. Bancroft & Co. and Tony C’s Sports Bar & Grill are expected to open in 2018, with construction set for completion in April 2018.

Mercy Tavern, named in part as a nod to mercy's continuing role in blues and soul music, announced the opening of its doors for April 7. The bar and restaurant promised a blues jam starting at 4 p.m. on the same day, which is expected to be a weekly event. According to a post on its Facebook page, Mercy Tavern features a gastropub style menu for its opening day, with an eye to comfort food.

Whooping Cough Confirmed at Shawsheen Tech

A student at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School, which enrolls from Tewksbury and Wilmington, has a case of whooping cough, the superintendent told The Sun. The school shared a Department of Public Health advisory with staff, parents and guardians, informing them of the case of whooping cough (pertussis) and about its signs and symptoms.

Framingham Election Results: Slimmest of Margins Means 'Largest Town' is No More

Framingham voted April 4 in support of leaving behind the mantle of being New England's largest town, changing its status to the City of Framingham. Preliminary results dictated that the difference was 105 votes in a total of 11,332 cast amid a 28.39 percent turnout. That broke down to 5,684 in favor of adopting a new city charter and 5,579 against.

Marlborough Police Confirm Black Bear Sighting

The Marlborough Police Department confirms that over the past few days a black bear has been spotted in the area of Route 20 West, close to the Northborough line. As of April 4, police have determined that there is no cause for alarm.
