Person of Interest Identified in Tufts Stabbings

Somerville Police say there is no threat to the surrounding community and incident was not random.

Somerville Police have identified a person of interest in this morning’s stabbings of two individuals at a fraternity at Tufts University.

Police responded just before 4 a.m. Sunday morning to a report of two people injured outside 98 Professors Row. Officials say when they arrived, police located two male victims suffering from apparent stab wounds to the neck.

The first victim is a 20-year-old male from Boston who suffered serious injury and was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital. The second victim is a 19-year-old male from Boston who suffered apparent non-life-threatening injury and was also transported to MGH.

Police say the incident appears to have taken place inside 98 Professors Row. It does not appear to be a random act, and parties involved are believed to be known to each other.

This incident is under investigation by the Somerville Police Department with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police, Tufts University Police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
