Somerville Hiring Workers To Check COVID-19 Compliance

COVID-19 Ambassadors will give out masks, remind residents of health guidelines and work with the SPD on enforcement.

SOMERVILLE, MA — The city is hiring four COVID-19 Ambassadors to serve high-traffic areas and report on COVID-19 health and safety compliance.

According to a job post on the city's website, the position entails greeting residents and encouraging them to practice good public health behavior; distributing masks and informational materials to those who may not be in compliance; reporting to the city about observed compliance, number of interactions and areas of concern; and working with the Somerville Police Department on enforcement and compliance.

Ambassadors will work 40 hours per week in five eight-hour shifts.

  1. Day Shifts:
    1. Monday to Friday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    2. Saturday to Sunday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  2. Night Shifts:
    1. Monday to Friday: 4 p.m. to 12 a.m.
    2. Saturday to Sunday: 4 p.m. to 12 a.m.
