Fire Destroys Somerville Home, 10 Displaced: Report

Fire crews brought the fire under control by 7 a.m., as a police officer and off-duty firefighter helped 10 people in the home escape.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Somerville firefighters battled a fire in a triple-decker home early Thursday morning, WHDH reports.

Firefighters responded to reports of a fire engulfing a triple-decker on Central Street and sending huge plumes of smoke into the air around 6 a.m.

Fire crews were able to bring the fire under control by 7 a.m., as a police officer and off-duty firefighter helped to make sure the 10 people in the home at the time of the fire made it out safely, according to WHDH.
