SUDBURY, MA — One 2024 Sudbury race just got a little less competitive.

Goodnow Library trustee Jean Nam withdrew from the Sudbury School Committee race this week, leaving three candidates running for two open seats, according to the League of Women Voters of Sudbury. Nam's term on the Goodnow board ends in 2025.

Two-term school committee member Silvia Nerssessian is not running in 2024, and Sarah Troiano, who won a special one-year term in 2023, did not file to run again.

The race is now down to disability commission member Karyn Jones, Haynes Elementary school council member Mary Stephens and first-time candidate Richard Thalmann, who is the chief financial officer at Norwood's Tekscan.

The Sudbury Select Board race will also be competitive this year with incumbents Janie Dretler and Daniel Carty seeking new terms, and Eric Poch, who ran for a Select Board seat in 2022, running as a challenger.
