ICYMI: Remembering Sudbury's 9-11 Victims

SUDBURY, MA—Around the country, many will gather to honor and remember the victims of the 9-11 attack, which occurred on Sept. 11 of 2001. Sunday, Sept. 11, marks the 15th anniversary of the tragedy.

More than 3,000 people lost their lives that day.

Sudbury lost three of its own in the attack:

• Peter Morgan Goodrich, 33, was a product manager at MKS. He was on United flight 175. “Peter Morgan Goodrich was a burly, 6 foot 1, all- American shot-putter who also threw the hammer and discus during the late 1980’s at Bates College,” it says on the New York Times’ Portraits of Grief pages. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.”
• Cora Hidalgo Holland, 52, worked at the Sudbury Food Pantry. She was on American Airlines Flight 11. “ For the first time in almost 25 years of marriage, Mrs. Holland and her husband, who lived in Sudbury, Mass., were empty nesters. Three weeks later, Mrs. Holland, 52, was on Flight 11, on her way to visit her mother.” Read the full profile on Portraits of Grief.
• Geoffrey Cloud grew up in Sudbury and is memorialized at the Garden along with Cora and Peter. Geoffrey, a Cantor Fitzgerald employee, worked in one of the World Trade Center towers. He left a wife and two small children, as well as his parents, who still lived in Sudbury at the time.
