ICYMI: Sudbury Tween Sending Signed Baseballs With Messages To The Troops
A Sudbury boy is working on his Bar Mitzvah project that involves collecting baseballs to send to the troops.

SUDBURY, MA — When Ben Resnic had to come up with a service project to complement his Bar Mitzvah, he stepped up to the plate.
The 12-year-old from Sudbury teamed up with Billy's BASEballs, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing cheer to our military troops at home and abroad. The big event is on April 29, so before that, Resnic is asking friends, family, teammates and anyone else who would like to help, to sign baseballs that show encouraging messages of thanks, hope, praise and love. He will then send the signed balls to the troops.
Billy Cook, the founder of Billy’s BASEballs, says the feedback from the military heroes who receive the baseballs is positive. "They can’t believe kids could take the time to send them such a fun piece of home," said Resnic's father David.

“I wanted to do a service project about baseball because it’s one of my favorite sports and the theme of my Bar Mitzvah,” said Resnic. “My family helped me research projects and we found Billy’s BASEballs on the Internet. Billy came up with a great idea for his Bar Mitzvah project a few years ago and I’m excited to join his team. Decorating baseballs for our military troops is a fun way of saying thank you for everything they do to keep us safe. My goal is 100 decorated balls by my Bar Mitzvah.”
