North Division 1 Championship Game Decided in Closing Minutes
Acton-Boxboro clipped Lincoln-Sudbury, 8-7, in the title game on Tuesday night.
Lincoln-Sudbury and Acton-Boxboro boys lacrosse split their regular season meetings. But it was the Colonials who took the critical rubber match, by the slimmest of margins, on Tuesday night.
The Warriors were narrowly defeated, 8-7, in the North Division 1 championship game at Harvard Stadium on Tuesday night, ending a memorable Lincoln-Sudbury season.
Both teams engaged in a back-and-forth battle that entered the fourth quarter with the score tied at five goals apiece.
In the final quarter Acton-Boxboro snagged a pair of goals just seconds apart, hoping to find some space on the scoreboard. Instead, the Warriors knotted things with a pair of goals of their own not long after.
But the Colonials netted the game-winner as Lincoln-Sudbury couldn't answer, and Acton-Boxboro closed out the final minutes defensively to earn the championship.
With the loss, Lincoln-Sudbury's season came to a close with a record of 16-7, which Acton-Boxboro is now 20-3 on the year and moving to the Eastern Mass Division 1 title game.
