The district public schools in Sudbury are already losing over $38,043 to Commonwealth charter schools this year, even after state reimbursements. If Question 2 passes that number could skyrocket even more since new charter schools could be opened anywhere at any time — without the say of the local community.
Charter schools are currently draining $450 million from the district public schools across the state. This destructive charter school ballot question would nearly triple the number of charter schools in just 10 years and take away an additional $1 billion each year from our local public schools.

This loss of funds has already negatively impacted school districts — who educate the majority of students in the state — compromising their ability to provide students with the STEM and enrichment programs they need to thrive and succeed. If the cap is lifted, the undemocratic system of approving and overseeing publicly funded but privately operated schools would severely undermine local control over public education across the state.”
