Sudbury Celebrates Completion of Landfill Solar Project
About 6,000 photovoltaic modules cover 5.3 acres of the 28-acre landfill.
The photovoltaic solar facility located on the Town’s closed landfill at 20 Boston Post Road is ready to go, and to celebrate its completion Sudbury held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov. 13 to officially launch Sudbury Solar One.
Sudbury can expect an estimated savings of $100,000 a year in electric costs. The town has agreed to buy electricity from the panels over the next 20 years as part of a power purchase agreement with Framingham energy company Ameresco. The solar company, which built the farm, will maintain the array at no cost to the town.
