Sudbury Responds To Eversource Final Environmental Impact Report

SUDBURY, MA—Sudbury filed comments in response to the Final Environmental Impact Report submitted byE versource Energy for the Sudbury-Hudson Transmission Reliability Project this week, announced the town.

The comments were compiled by town staff and the town’s consulting firm Nover-Armstrong Associates, and explain the town’s position that the filing did not adequately address the issues required by the State and did not address the substantive issues of the proposed project.

Due to the many deficiencies in the filing, according to the announcement, the town is requesting that the State require a supplement filing by Eversource.

“The Town of Sudbury continues to oppose any project along the MBTA right of way,” said Bob Haarde, chairman of the board of selectmen, in a statement. “We will not accept any project in our town, which comes with a power line running through our conservation land and along back yards and endangers our way of life.”

Eversource Energy proposes the installation of a 115-kv transmission line through areas of Hudson and Sudbury and smaller sections of Marlborough and Stow. The town has been actively opposing the project at the Energy Facility Siting Board and in other venues.

“We were disappointed to see the number of deficiencies and inadequacies in this filing,” said Melissa Rodrigues, town manager, in a statement. “This project has real impacts for our community, and those impacts must be identified and addressed.”
