Town Offices Begin Summer Schedule

A few facts, figures and tidbits to end your workweek.

1. LONG WEEKENDS: Town Manager Maureen Valente announced that several offices will again be following a summer schedule of work hours for a four-day compressed workweek this August.  Employees will work the same number of hours each week by working extended hours Monday through Thursday.

The revised schedule begins Monday, July 29, 2013, and affects offices in Town Hall and the Flynn Building.  Offices in these two buildings will be closed on Friday, August 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.  Offices will be open to serve the public as follows:  Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. - Friday closed.  Currently, most of the offices in these buildings open for business at 8:30 a.m. and close to the public at either 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. 

The Town departments following this compressed schedule are

  • Assessor
  • Human Resources
  • Planning and Community Development
  • Selectmen/Town Manager
  • Tax Collector/Treasurer
  • Town Accountant
  • Town Clerk
  • Conservation (Note: only office in DPW building following this schedule)

The following offices will not be observing the summer schedule and will be operating on regular hours: Atkinson Pool, Board of Health, Building Department, Council on Aging, Engineering, Fire Department, Goodnow Library, Highway Department, Police Department and Recreation Department.

 All offices will return to their regular hours beginning Tuesday, September 3rd, the day after Labor Day.

2. WANT TO WORK FOR THE TOWN? The Town of Sudbury is accepting applications for the position of assistant town clerk. Starting salary range is $22.88 to $24.71 per hour. 3. TOWN COMMITTEE SEEKS MEMBERS: Would you like to be part of a team working on many exciting initiatives to make The Town of Sudbury a more bicycle and walking friendly community? The Sudbury Bicycling and Pedestrian Committee looking for people who would be interested in working on such projects as: supporting the proposed recreational trails in town, establishing safe bicycle and walking routes, putting up signage around town for safety and route information and also providing bicycle/pedestrian education programs through Park & Recreation and also throughout all of our schools K-12.

5. FORECAST: 

Friday: Tropical downpours possible in the morning, taper to light showers/sprinkles in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 60s/low 70s by late afternoon. Wind NNE to NW 15-20.

Saturday: Ah...back to summer. Mostly sunny. Warmer. More humid. Mid 80s.

Sunday: Partly sunny with isolated afternoon/evening t-storms - mostly west toward Worcester. Highs in the low/mid 80s.
