Watertown Follows State In Supporting Markey

US Rep takes city better than 2 to 1 over newcomer.

 

Democrat Ed Markey won handily over Republican newcomer Gabriel Gomez in Watertown's special election for U.S. Senate, winning nearly three out of every four voter who entered one of the city's 12 polling stations.

A total of 6,897 Watertown residents voted in the June 25 special election, with 4,965 voters (or 72 percent) going for the city's US Representative over businessman Gomez, who netted 1,906 votes (or 27 percent).

Watertown's results were better for Markey who took home 55 percent of all state voters.
