Watertown's Public Pool Closed Until Further Notice

In wake of apparent drowning death in a state-run pool in Fall River, all state deep-water public pools are closed.

Watertown's only state-run deep-water pool, the on Pleasant Street, is temporarily closed.

It and 29 other state-run deep-water pools all are shut while the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) investigates the apparent drowning death of a woman in a public Fall River pool.

The Boston Globe reported that authorities said Marie Joseph was found floating in the Veteran’s Memorial Swimming Pool at Lafayette Park, and may have been underwater for three days. The Globe also reported that DCR Commissioner Edward M. Lambert Jr. said in a statement that the agency’s deepwater pools will all be closed while a review of safety and operations procedures is undertaken over the next 24 to 48 hours.
