Anne Wilson Appointed Sudbury Superintendent

In a 5-0 vote, the Sudbury School Committee Wednesday night appointed Dr. Anne Wilson as the next superintendent of Sudbury Public Schools.

Wilson, assistant superintendent for human resources in Brookline public schools, had been one of three finalists for the top job. for the Wayland superintendent position that .

Before Brookline, Wilson served as founding principal and assistant principal of middle schools in San Ramon, Calif. She began her career in education as a high school math teacher in Florida and then taught math in a California middle school. Wilson got a Ph.D. in education administration from Boston College, her Master of Science in education/curriculum from California State University, and the Bachelor of Science in secondary education/mathematics from Bloomsburg University.

Wilson will replace current Superintendent John Brackett, who announced last September that he would retire in June.

The Sudbury Public School Committee appointed a 14-member screening committee to review applications and interview candidates to replace Brackett. The screening committee included representation from the school committee, the school district's administrative office, building-level administration, teachers, support staff, parents, the Sudbury Education Association, the Sudbury Special Education Advisory Council, METCO and the Sudbury Finance Committee.
