I enthusiastically endorse Jeanne Downs for School Committee. Â
Through her involvement as a leader and volunteer, Jeanne Downs has demonstrated a commitment to our children, the schools and the entire community. I first met Jeanne when my children joined the Wayland Jr. Warriors swim team. I was immediately impressed by Jeanne’s skill in directing the large program. She is equally successful at coaching and encouraging the swimmers of all ages (under 6 years through 18 years), mentoring the High School students who work as assistant coaches, collaborating with other coaches and officials, organizing the parent volunteers, running the meets, and so much more. Quickly, I learned that Jeanne’s community service extended far beyond the Jr. Warriors swim team.
Jeanne has served as president of the PTO at all three school levels. Additionally, she was an integral member of the group who spearheaded the construction of our new Community Pool. In each of these roles Jeanne has consistently demonstrated leadership, patience, objectivity, wisdom and respect for others. Whether she is praising the efforts of a 5 year old swimmer, or aiding administrators, teachers, students and parents through her volunteerism, Jeanne has shown herself to be someone who works effectively and respectfully with everyone.
I wholeheartedly trust Jeanne to make sound decisions as a School Committee member to strengthen and continue the sound path of the quality schools we cherish. Â
Please join me in voting for Jeanne Downs on April 2.
