Wayland Boosts Resident Credit For Hazardous Waste Disposal

Wayland residents will still have to drive to either Sutton or Westfield to drop off waste.

WAYLAND, MA — With a local hazardous waste option still pending, Wayland is increasing the amount of money it will cover for residents willing to drop off waste themselves.

In March, the Wayland Health Department said it had been unable to find a vendor to conduct an in-town hazardous waste collection day, which had been a standard in springtime for years. Instead, the town offered to reimburse residents up to $50 to drop off waste at facilities in Sutton and Westfield.

The town is still directing residents to those two drop-off sites, but this month increased the reimbursement amount to $100. Wayland residents are responsible for any costs over $100.

The offer is good at the New England Disposal Technologies sites at 83 Gilmore Drive in Sutton and 190 East Main St. in Westfield.

Here's a list of items New England Disposal Technologies will accept. The town is recommending residents call either the Sutton or Westfield location to confirm open hours before making the drive.
