WAYLAND, MA — The Wayland Town Clerk is adding new online options for key town services.

Beginning in 2024, local dog owners will be able to register pooches online, a task that until recently had to be done in-person. The has also started using Unibank — widely used for many types of municipal payments — for vital records.

"It is my hope that the introduction of this software-based dog registration program will help to simplify what has been a bit of a difficult process. We will continue to work towards identifying other areas of Town Clerk operations that have been historically challenging in an effort to simplify the procedures for the public and thus making them more user-friendly," Reid said in a news release.

Licensed dog owners will get a letter in December describing the changes with instructions on how to use the new system.

The two new online services follow a new Wayland system for requesting public records instituted by Reid last month. Residents can now make records requests through a portal, and see all other records request made of the town.
