Town Engineer: Low Rain Levels Aid Groton Road Culvert Project

Work is scheduled to be complete before schools open at the end of August.

The Town of Westford posted the following update on the Groton Road Project:

'Town Engineer Paul Starratt says "Contractors have completely removed the existing granite culvert at Keyes Brook and have begun work on the new culvert foundations. Seasonal low water levels during the months of July and August have allowed workers to move at good pace and the project remains on schedule."'

Groton Road (Route 40) closed to through traffic at Keyes Brook on Monday, July 25. The Town estimates that workers will need approximately three weeks to remove an existing culvert and install a new structure.

A temporary traffic light has been installed at the intersection of Cold Spring Road and Depot Street and will be removed from the site upon completion of the project.

The road will remain closed until the culvert is replaced. Commuters are advised to seek alternate routes and to adjust travel times accordingly.

All businesses and residences in the area will be open and accessible at all times throughout the project. Work is scheduled to be complete before schools open at the end of August.
