Westford Traffic Committee Proposes New Ideas
They include new crosswalks, stop signs, curb extensions, and sidewalks.

The Town Center Traffic and Parking Committee has made several recommendations in the hops of making the center of town safer for pedestrians and improving the flow of traffic.
They have proposed new crosswalks, stop signs, curb extensions and sidewalks.
The recommendations are based on a 2014 traffic study conducted by the Northern Middlesex Council of Governments (NMCOG).

Committee members recommended installing a three-way, all-lane stop at the intersection of Boston Road and Main Street to even the traffic flow from all sides.
They also recommended adding a section of sidewalk along Main Street leading to a crosswalk at the intersection of Boston Road and Main Street, and a curb extension in front of the Parish Center for the Arts so motorists would decrease their speed when turning onto Lincoln Street form Boston Road.

“What we’re trying to do in with this extension is to slow that entry point onto Lincoln Street to provide greater safety,” Gail Flannery, who chairs the committee, said.
The public can express their opinion on these ideas when the Town Center Traffic and Parking Committee meets on Jan. 13. It will be at 7 p.m. in the Millennium Building behind the Abbot School.
