16 Felonies For Man Charged In Detroit Cop's Death
JuJuan Parks, 28, of Detroit has been charged in the killing of Detroit Police Officer Rasheen McClain.
DETROIT, MI — A 28-year-old Detroit man has been charged in the slaying of Detroit police Officer Rasheen McClain. JuJuan Parks is charged with 16 felonies and will be video arraigned at 11 a.m. Thursday, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office announced. His charges include first-degree premeditated murder.
Authorities said Parks exchanged gunfire with two officers the evening of Nov. 20 during a disturbance at his home on the city's west side. He is accused of fatally shooting 46-year-old McClain and injuring Officer Phillippe Batoum-Bisse during the shootout.
Police said Parks fled and was arrested a block away, and he taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. He sustained a gunshot wound to the arm, authorities said.

“As the allegations surrounding the heartbreaking death of Officer McClain unfold, we continue to do what is necessary to bring his assailant to justice,” Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said in a statement. “There cannot be a rush to judgment. We charge JuJuan Parks with the death of Officer McClain today, but I would like to caution everyone that this investigation is far-reaching and is not over. As always, we will be thorough and complete. Only the path of justice, and nothing else, will dictate further action.”
Parks has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder, first-degree murder of a police officer, three counts of assault with intent to murder, resisting and obstructing a police officer causing death, discharge of a weapon in a building causing death, discharge of a weapon in a building causing serious impairment, felon in possession of a firearm, and eight counts of felony firearm second offense.

He is being arraigned in 36th District Court.
