Detroit HS Student Arrested After Lockdown Scare Involving Plastic Gun

Officials said the student will not be returning to the high school.

DETROIT — A Detroit high school student was arrested last week after getting caught with a plastic gun on campus, a Detroit Public Schools Community District spokesperson tells Patch.

Western International High School, on Scotten Aveune, was thrown into lockdown last Friday after school officials saw a social media post showing a student with a gun on campus, according to the official.

Officials identify the student and recovered the gun, which turned out to be a plastic gun, according to the official.

Officials said the student was arrested in conneciton with the incident and will not be returning to the high school.

The district said in a statement that it "takes all threats seriously and remains committed to prioritizing the safety of our school community."
