Famous Names With Michigan Connections Who Died In 2018

President George H.W. Bush, first lady Barbara Bush and Sen. John McCain were just some of the revered public figures the country lost in 2018. On the entertainment front, famed actor Burt Reynolds and comic book writer Stan Lee departed the world in 2018, leaving behind heartbroken fans and family members.

Among the celebrity deaths in 2018, some had connections to Michigan whether it was their birth state, a one-time residence or where they made their home.

Notably, we lost Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul, in August. Franklin lived in Detroit and her suburban home has already hit the market. The world’s eyes were on Detroit during the legendary performer’s epic day-long funeral service.

In June, the world was rocked by the suicide of Anthony Bourdain. The last project he was reportedly working on was in Detroit. Here’s to hoping something is released soon.
