Harper Woods Man Accused Of Shooting, Killing Girlfriend
Prosecutors said an argument escalated into a deadly shooting.
WAYNE COUNTY, MI — A Harper Woods man has been accused of shooting and killing his live-in girlfriend, according to Wayne County prosecutors.
Steven Mark Bratton, 42, was arraigned Tuesday afternoon on one count of first-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of felony firearm, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said Harper Woods police on Sept. 20 received a call saying a body was found in the back yard of a home in the 19100 block of Woodside Street. When officers arrived they found 37-year-old Katie Lynn Elliot dead, prosecutors said. She had died from an apparent gunshot wound, prosecutors said.

According to prosecutors, an argument began between Bratton and Elliot before escalating with Bratton shooting and killing Elliot.
Bratton is scheduled for a probable cause conference Sept. 30.
