Jeff Dunham Coming To Detroit
Ventriloquist Jeff Dunham is bringing his show to Detroit Feb. 28.

Get ready to laugh in an evening of hilarious entertainment starring the world’s funniest ventriloquist, Jeff Dunham. The event is being held at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit Feb. 28.
This is something that you just don’t want to miss. Jeff has appeared on a number of television shows which include; Comedy Central Presents, The Tonight Show, Late Show with David Letterman and six specials on Comedy Central. Dunham also starred in his own series, The Jeff Dunham Show, on Comedy Central in 2009.

He has a style that’s been likened to Don Rickles, only more “dressed-down” with a menagerie of politically incorrect, ill tempered and insult generating characters. In all, Dunham has been credited as the comedian who has revived the art of ventriloquism, more so than any other performer since Edger Bergen.

Slate Magazine has called Dunham “America’s favorite comedian and he has been deemed the top-grossing standup act in North America as well as hugely popular throughout Europe. He’s sold over four million DVDs, as of 2009, with an additional $7 million in merchandise sales. In addition, on YouTube, his introduction of Achmed the Dead Terrorist in Spark of Insanity was ranked as the ninth most watched YouTube video in 2009, receiving over 350 million hits.
He has also been rated as the third highest paid comedian, by Forbes - just behind Chris Rock and Jerry Seinfeld. As a matter of fact, Dunham has achieved notoriety by being inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records for achieving the "Most tickets sold for a stand-up comedy tour", in his Spark of Insanity tour, which ran in 386 venues worldwide. Also, his “A Very Special Christmas Special” was the most watched telecast in Comedy Central history, with his DVD selling over 400,000 copies during the first two weeks.
When responding to the portrayal of his character Achmed the Dead Terrorist, he replied, "I've skewered whites, blacks, Hispanics, Christians, Jews, Muslims, gays, straights, rednecks, addicts, the elderly, and my wife. As a standup comic, it is my job to make the majority of people laugh, and I believe that comedy is the last true form of free speech ... I'm considering renaming Achmed 'Bill'", he added.
Dunham has also noted that he exhibits a particular sensitivity to the “conservative country crowd” and others who are characterized as having “basic Christian values”. He attributes this to his upbringing.
As a side note, according to the July 16, 2012, TV documentary, The Batmobile, Dunham owns a replica of the Batmobile that was used in the Tim Burton film Batman
