Here are some of the Juneteenth events taking place in the Metro Detroit area this weekend.
METRO DETROIT — Detroiters looking to celebrate Juneteenth will have several opportunities to do so in the coming days.
Juneteenth, which is held annually on June 19 and celebrates the end of slavery in the U.S., is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration marking the end of slavery.

Detroit
Juneteenth Jubilee Freedom Weekend: The Juneteenth Jubilee Freedom Weekend runs from Thursday to Sunday at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. The museum is hosting a series of virtual educational film screenings.
Juneteenth In Detroit Family Day: The Juneteenth in Detroit Family Day takes place from 12-8 p.m. Saturday. This year's event is the 11th annual event in the series. It'll take place at Maheras Gentry Park in Detroit.

'Juneteenth in the D': "Juneteenth in the D" will run from 12-10:30 p.m. Saturday with a festival and concert. The festival will be held at the Dabis MBAD African Bead Museum.
Juneteenth Freedom Celebration and Brake Light Clinic: Volunteers will be hosting a clinic to replace broken brake lights for everyone free of charge. This public service event aims to prevent unnecessary police stops, expensive tickets and fines, and possible court appearances, to benefit the greater community. By reducing the opportunity for police stops that disproportionately affect vulnerable populations.
Royal Oak
Juneteenth Film Festival: In Royal Oak, Juneteenth celebrations began a little early. The Juneteenth Film Festival kicked off on June 4 and the second annual month-long film event at the Emagine Royal Oak will donate funds to the United Negro College Fund.
Dearborn
Juneteenth Mobility Stroll & Roll: The Juneteenth Mobility Stroll & Roll will begin at Michigan and Schaefer and conclude at Dearborn City Hall Park. The stroll will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and will wrap up at 2 p.m.
