Michigan Adds Over 400 New Coronavirus Cases, 19 New Deaths

The state said that of the 19 new deaths reported Thursday, 11 were identified through a vital records search.

MICHIGAN — Michigan reported over 400 new cases of the coronavirus Thursday, according to the most recent data provided by state health officials.

The state saw an increase of 419 new coronavirus cases Thursday, bringing Michigan coronavirus case total to 94,697. Michigan health officials also reported that of 19 new deaths reported Thursday, 11 were identified through a vital records search.

Michigan added 616 new cases on Wednesday, while also increasing its coronavirus death toll by nine.

Michigan ranks 18th in the U.S. in coronavirus cases as of Thursday morning, according to the World Health Organization. California, Florida and Texas lead the nation in that category. Michigan is ranked ninth in the nation in deaths being attributed to the virus. It has previously ranked as high as third. The state has reported that over 67,000 people have recovered from the virus as of Aug. 14.

In the U.S., a world-leading 5.7 million coronavirus cases have been reported, according to the World Health Organization. More than 176,000 people in the U.S. have died from the virus, while over 3 million people have recovered.

The World Health Organization reports that over 22.7 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported worldwide as of Thursday morning. The group also reports that nearly 794,000 people have died from the virus around the world. More than 15.4 million people worldwide have recovered from the virus.
