Michigan Coronavirus Deaths Surpass 6,500 Wednesday
Michigan also reported 14 new deaths being attributed to the virus. The state's coronavirus death toll has now climbed to 6,509.
MICHIGAN — More than 6,500 people in Michigan have died from the new coronavirus, according to data provided by state health officials on Wednesday.
The state reported an uptick of 524 new coronavirus cases Wednesday, bringing Michigan's coronavirus case total to 103,710. Michigan also reported 14 new deaths being attributed to the virus. The state's coronavirus death toll has now climbed to 6,509.
Michigan reported 718 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, adding 15 new deaths as well. More than 76,000 people in Michigan have recovered from the virus, according to its most recently released data.

While the more than 103,000 coronavirus cases and 6,500 deaths are considered confirmed by state health officials, a bevy of probable cases and deaths could mean Michigan's numbers are quite a bit higher, according to state data.

In addition to the confirmed cases and deaths, Michigan has reported 10,758 probable coronavirus cases and 272 probable deaths. Considering probable cases, Michigan's coronavirus numbers would stand at 114,468 coronavirus cases and 6,781 deaths.
Michigan ranks 18th in the U.S. in coronavirus cases, according to the World Health Organization, a group that factors in probable cases. California, Texas and Florida top the nation in reported cases. Michigan is ninth in the nation in coronavirus deaths. New York and New Jersey lead the nation in deaths.
The U.S. leads world in coronavirus cases, according to the World Health Organization. The nation has reported over 6.2 million cases. Brazil (3.9 million) and India (3.8) trail the U.S. in total cases. The U.S. also has reported over 189,000 deaths attributed to the virus, while more than 3.5 million people have recovered from the virus.
According to the World Health Organization, more than 26 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported around the world as of Wednesday morning. Over 863,000 people have died from the virus to date, while more than 18.2 million people have recovered from the virus worldwide.
Over 6.8 cases of the virus remain active.
