DETROIT, MI — A man who had been missing from a Detroit adult care facility for over five and a half months was found this month dead in the facility's basement, according to reports.

Staff at Faithful Helping Hands was cleaning out a basement room when they found Kam Franks, who had been missing since March, dead, according to Fox 2. Franks had been a resident at the facility for a few years, according to the station.

"I said 'Oh, God, thank you,' she said he's been in the basement dead the whole time, you got to get over here," Kai Franks, Kam Franks' sister, told Fox 2. "I can't understand how they didn't think to look right under their noses."

Staff at the facility said no odor had been detected in the basement, and it remains unclear why the basement was never checked when staff searched for Franks, according to Fox 2. The station reported that Detroit police are looking into the case.
