More General Motors Employees Laid Off In Michigan

Some 50 Brownstown employees will be laid off, according to reports.

BROWNSTOWN, MI — Some 50 more General Motors employees will be laid off, according to announcements.

In state filings Tuesday, GM said it will cut 50 jobs at its Brownstown battery plant at the same time it starts layoffs at its Detroit-Hamtramck plant, which it said in November will be idled later in 2019, the Detroit Free Press reported. The Brownstown layoffs had not been previously disclosed.

The filings said the Brownstown workers and 620 Hamtramck employees will be laid off in February, the report said.
