Nearly 700 More Coronavirus Cases Reported In Michigan Wednesday

The state also reported that 11 more people in Michigan have died from the coronavirus, bringing the state death toll to 6,623.

MICHIGAN — Michigan health officials on Wednesday announced nearly 700 new cases of the coronavirus, an increase that brings the statewide case total near 114,000.

The state added 680 new cases Wednesday, increasing Michigan's number of coronavirus cases to 113,863. The state also reported that 11 more people in Michigan have died from the coronavirus, bringing the state death toll to 6,623.

Michigan reported over 500 new cases on Tuesday. More than 85,000 people in the state had recovered from the virus as of Friday.

Michigan is 18th in the U.S. in reported coronavirus cases, according to the World Health Organization, which factors in not just confirmed COVID-19 cases but probable cases and deaths as well. Michigan is ninth in the nation in COVID-19 deaths.

More than 6.8 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the U.S., according to the World Health Organization. Over 200,000 people in the U.S. have died from the virus, while more than 4 million have recovered from the respiratory illness.

According to the World Health Organization, nearly 30 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported worldwide. That number includes more than 942,000 deaths attributed to the virus and over 21.6 million recoveries. Nearly 7.3 million cases of the coronavirus remain active.
