Prosecutor Kym Worthy Hosts Town Halls

The presentations will focus on how the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office works, sexual assault, drugs and other topics.

WAYNE COUNTY, MI — Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy will hold a series of Town Hall meetings throughout Wayne County. The second town hall will be held on Jan. 23 from 7-9 p.m. at the Detroit Edison Public School Academy, 1903 Wilkins Street in Detroit.

Members of the public, police and community leaders in the following Detroit Police Department Precincts are invited to attend: Precinct 5 (Conner and St. Jean), Precinct 7 (Mack and St. Aubin), Precinct 9 (11187 Gratiot) and Precinct 11 (5100 East Nevada).

There will be a brief presentation by Prosecutor Worthy on the following topics: How the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office Operates, School Threats, Domestic Violence, Conviction Integrity Unit, Sexual Assault Kits, Drug and Mental Health Court and the Community Prosecution Unit.

“I have always wanted to do these Town Halls. There are so many serious issues right now that my office deals with on a daily basis. Most people’s idea of what an urban prosecutor’s office is, and what we deal with on a daily basis, is not depicted realistically anywhere. The meetings will be an upfront and personal. We will cover all of Wayne County communities, and will be coming to a venue near you,” said Prosecutor Worthy.

After the presentation, the audience will have an opportunity to ask questions. Light refreshments will be served, and the last half hour will be reserved for attendees to meet with Prosecutor Worthy.

Future Town Hall meetings will be held various locations in the City of Detroit and other Wayne County Communities. Dates, times and locations for subsequent Town Hall meetings will be announced.
