Teen Drowns In Detroit River After Slipping Along Riverwalk: Reports

Police said the teen went over the railing that separates the path from the water and slipped and fell into the river.

DETROIT — A 19-year-old man drowned in the Detroit River over the weekend, according to multiple reports citing police.

Police said the teen was walking with a group of friends along the Detroit Riverwalk near Atwater Street and the Princess Boat at 1 a.m. Saturday when he went over the rail and slipped and fell into the river.

Officials found the teen's body in the water roughly nine hours later near the Princess Boat, where he fell into the river, reports said.
