SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — Heavy rain and strong thunderstorms are expected across southeastern Michigan on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Scattered rain showers will continue moving throughout the morning and afternoon hours when highs reach the upper 60s across the region, according to the weather service.

A line of severe storms will then cross the area sometime between 5 p.m. and midnight Wednesday, according to the weather service.
Forecasters warned the storms could produce heavy downpours, large hail, damaging winds reaching up to 70 miles per hour and tornadoes.

A flood watch will also go into effect from 8 p.m. Wednesday until 8 a.m. Thursday for southeastern Michigan as forecasters expect 1.5 to 2 inches of rainfall across the area.
Some rain will linger into Thursday morning, but it should fade away quickly as highs across the region again climb toward 70 degrees, according to the weather service.
Highs will fall back down into the 50s Friday before another chance of rain moves into the area during the nighttime hours and into the weekend, according to the weather service.
