Weekend Weather: Slick Roads, Single Digit Wind Chills

METRO DETROIT, MI — Temperatures are dropping across Michigan this weekend with single digit wind chills and potentially hazardous road conditions, according to forecasters.

A combination of light snow and cold temperatures will result in slippery conditions and motorists are urged to use caution and account for the variable driving conditions by allowing extra time. This alert from the National Weather Service impacts residents in Wayne, Washtenaw, Macomb, Oakland, Livingston, Lapeer and Genesee counties.

Here’s what to be prepared for:

• Bands of light lake effect snow showers will continue to track southeast through the area during the mid morning hours.
• Localized areas may see a quick dusting of snow accumulation, particularly on any untreated and less traveled roadways.
• Northwest winds will gust up to 20 mph at times.
• Air temperatures will remain steady in the lower 20s.
• Accumulating snow may lead to slippery roads particularly on bridges, exit ramps and overpasses.
• Light snow is not expected to cause a widespread reduction in visibility.
