Woman Hit By Car, Killed After Fleeing Gunshots On I-75 In Southeast MI: Police

MONROE COUNTY, MI — A woman was killed after a crash and possible shooting on Interstate 75 in Monore County on Monday night, according to Michigan State Police.

Police said a Customs and Border Patrol agent stopped to check on a stranded driver inside a white BMW.

The agent talked with the driver, a 47-year-old Monroe Woman, who gave her information, according to police.

Shortly later, the agent heard a gunshot a "possible subject running from the area of the vehicle into the woods," according to police.

Police originally said the agent saw a man run into the nearby woods. Police did not know if the man came from the vehicle or if he fired the shot.

In a Tuesday afternoon update, police did not mention the man, but did say that nobody else was found and there is no danger to the public.

After the shot was fired, the woman tried to run across the freeway and was hit by a car, according to police.

The woman was killed in the crash, according to police.
